I'm so happy to share our latest Yoga Mom of the Month - Kimberly Costanzo!

Kim has been coming to Yoga With Littles classes for a little over a year! She started joining us for Toddler + Me Yoga classes at Little Chicken with her oldest son, Elio when he was 20 months old, while she was pregnant with her youngest son, Ian. Kim and Ian started joining us for Baby + Me Yoga at Boho Yoga after Ian was born this past winter, and Kim has been juggling both Baby + Toddler classes ever since as a way of spending quality one on one time with each of her boys! :)

Kim has also officially joined us at ALL of our different yoga class locations - in addition to being regulars at our classes at Little Chicken and Boho Yoga, Kim and Elio joined us for Toddler Yoga at The Well with some of their friends, and have recently joined our new outdoor classes at Coffee Corral! She's a great person to check in with for anyone who has questions about the different vibes at our class locations since each one is a little different and special in its own way! We love having Kim and her boys at all of our classes and hope that they continue to join us for many more yoga experiences to come. :)

Kim is such an open and loving mom and we love having her as part of our Yoga With Littles community!

Keep reading our interview with Kim to learn more about her experience with yoga and motherhood! :)

Q: What's your HIGH of being a mom right now? (What's going really well in life and motherhood?)

A: I think I’m doing a good job of asking for help & being able to spend intentional one on one time with each of the boys. It’s also rewarding to see our routines with the boys pay off. Luckily, we are sleeping well in our house right now.

Q: What's your LOW of being a mom right now? (What's your biggest challenge in life and motherhood?)

A: I struggle with anxiety normally, so transitioning to 2 has really heightened that for me. I get overwhelmed & overstimulated easily and it’s been tough managing my patience and all the emotions each day. It’s also been hard to find balance and healthy routines for myself.

Q: What do you LOVE about coming to mommy and me yoga?

A: I love the community. Being a mom of littles is isolating. There is something comforting knowing that I have this set time that I get to go to a safe space filled with moms & babies. We all get it, we’re all in it & we can just be ourselves.

Ambar’s classes are always thoughtful & fun. She is warm, sweet, calm, understanding and makes everyone feel welcome. I love that now with Ian I get to experience the sweetness of baby yoga..slowing down, connecting with him & also getting some stretching in myself.

Q: Are there any positive changes that you've noticed in yourself and/or your little ones from coming to yoga?

A: When I first started yoga with Elio, I would get frustrated because he would be off doing his own thing & I’d be sitting on my mat alone. It was the first toddler class that I really noticed the consistency of coming start to pay off. I’ll never forget the first time he did ‘rub your hands’ or ‘tick tock’ by himself unprompted at home. It clicked, like wow, he really is liking this & taking it in. Watching him grow to now (mostly) sitting with me, taking part in the class, talking to Ms Ambar, excited to come to yoga..it melts my heart. He’s the biggest Daddy’s boy, so I love that yoga is our time & I even get some snuggles during savasana.

For me, I’ve noticed that I’m more confident in myself and free to share my truths without fear of judgement. I also feel more connected to my boys by spending this special time with them. Yoga class was also the first place I took both boys out by myself in public.

Q: What's your best mom advice for another mom who might need some words of encouragement?

A: Don’t be afraid to be real - share your struggles & try not to invalidate your feelings or let anyone else. Doing that does not negate your gratitude. Remember that two things can always be true. You love your babies more than anything in the world AND ALSO motherhood can be hard. You’re doing great!

THANK YOU KIM FOR BEING SUCH AN INCREDIBLE YOGI, MOM, AND FRIEND! We are so grateful to have you as part of our Yoga With Littles community. You are rocking it at balancing life with a baby and a toddler and we're inspired by the way you show up to class, share openly and honestly, and give other moms permission to do the same. Elio and Ian are so very lucky to have you as their mama!
